Paul D. Ogg
Teaching Associate Professor
BA - Albion College
PhD - University of Iowa
Research Description
Dr. Ogg focuses on courses for the BELS curriculum. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Albion College, in Michigan. After graduation, he pursued an education in Biology, eventually joining the Molecular Biology Graduate Program at the University of Iowa, where he received his Ph.D. His thesis explored the ability of Herpes Simplex Virus to disrupt a cellular process called Programmed Cell Death. Findings from his research have implications for infectious disease and cancer biology. At the University of Iowa, Dr. Ogg learned standard cell and molecular techniques, such genetic engineering, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and more. He is in his 7th year of teaching Biology courses here at CSM and is pleased to be a part of the growing Biology curriculum on campus. Dr. Ogg currently researches fermentation variables and growth of unusual organisms in spontaneous ferments. He also advises several students pursuing independent research projects in his laboratory working on genetic engineering.
