Assistant professor - Chemical and Biochemical Engineering
Colorado School of Mines Department of Chemical Engineering invites applications for an anticipated tenure track Assistant Professor beginning fall 2010. The Department of Chemical Engineering has a strong undergraduate and graduate education program that offers two B.S. degrees (Chemical Engineering and Chemical & Biochemical Engineering), as well as Masters and PhD degrees. The present faculty is dedicated to excellence in both research and teaching and is seeking additional faculty members to excel in both areas. Applications are sought from individuals with research expertise in any area relevant to chemical and/or biochemical engineering science; however, special consideration will be given to those with expertise in biofuels and other biomass conversions and those with expertise in the application of high performance computing in biotechnology.
This position is part of a cluster of faculty positions designed to support Mines’ developments in applied biosciences, which include the establishment of a new undergraduate degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, a program track in Biochemistry, the formation of the Colorado Center for Biofuels and Biorefining, an expansion of the CSM Bioengineering and Life Sciences (BELS) Program, as well as bioscience applications in aspects of materials science and environmental science.

volume on the order of $50+ million per year, with sponsors including
private industry, NIH, DOE, NSF, DOD, and USEPA.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in chemical engineering or a closely related field and demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching and research. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications abilities.
