Jenny Ketterling

Associate Teaching Professor, Chemical and Biological Engineering

 Jenny holds a PhD in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Florida and an MPH from Independence University. She brings almost 20 years of experience teaching undergraduate biology courses including General Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, and Microbiology across face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.

Her prior research focused on genetic engineering of plants in systems such as tomatoes, petunias, and Arabidopsis thaliana, with a particular emphasis on ethylene signaling and its involvement in developmental pathways. Her teaching philosophy centers on active learning, fostering critical thinking, technology integration, and promoting scientific literacy. Beyond the classroom, she has held administrative roles encompassing student advising, instructional training, curriculum review, and a Canvas LMS administrator. Jenny has recently been a health program coordinator at a local non-profit. In this role, she coordinated health-based education and services at a community hub for vulnerable and under-resourced populations. She also worked in direct coordination with Broomfield Public Health on community initiatives such as vaccine education, harm reduction, and mental health trainings.
