Amadeu SumMy main research focus is on the study of phase transformation with special focus on water and its many phases, including clathrate, ice, and liquid water. My research is diverse, with depth and breadth from the SCIENCE (fundamental) to the ENGINEERING (applied). For water in the form of clathrate hydrates, I am particularly concerned in understanding gas hydrates in the flow assurance and energy storage by concertedly incorporating multiphase flow. In water science, my research aims to understand the many roles and forms that water interact with chemical, physical, and biological systems, ranging from electrolytes, nanoparticles, and biomembranes. My group has extensive experience in diverse topics as multiphase flow, deposition, nucleation/growth, phase equilibria, metastability, chemical inhibition, structure/composition, structural transition. The research is based on experimental, theoretical, and computational approaches, bringing a comprehensive approach to the study of phase transformations.
