Nikki Farnsworth’s Research

Assistant Professor Nikki Farnsworth’s research focuses on developing biomaterial scaffolds to investigate and mimic cellular interactions with their environment and to harness this information to develop therapies for life threatening diseases.

Nikki Farnsworth joined the department in August 2019. Previously, she worked as a post-doc at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr. Farnsworth also won the 2020 American Diabetes Association Junior Faculty Award.

“Although other groups in our department do work with animals, we are the only ones that access or have the opportunity to actually physically do hands-on work with them…This puts you at a huge advantage because when you go and apply for jobs you can already say that you have that experience of not only working with animals but also possibly designing your own animal studies which will put you at a significant advantage towards other applicants for when you are applying for these jobs in the future.”
